Math Homework: week of May 2 - 6, 2016
This week we are wrapping up our work on statistics. Students will present posters that graph data about 6th graders. They will demonstrate their understanding of measures of center such as mean, median, mode, and range. Additionally, we are beginning a unit on probability. Students will learn theoretical and experimental probability for single and compound events.
There will be no homework this week! Enjoy the sunshine!

Literacy Homework for April
Due daily: If students do not complete their Do Now in class, students should finish it as homework.
Due every Tuesday:
Due every Thursday: Summary of Nonfiction Article
Due daily: If students do not complete their Do Now in class, students should finish it as homework.
- Students are reading one of seven adventure novels: Island of the Blue Dolphins, Hatchet, The River, Downriver, My Side of the Mountain, White Fang, or Into the Wild
- Chapter Assignments for all the books can be found here.
- Also, students completed a "Time Management Sheet" which is intended to help pace their work. Click here for an example of the Time Management Sheet.
Due every Tuesday:
- Summaries (2-4 sentences) for each chapter they read in their Adventure Novels
- Read the assigned chapters.
- Questions - there are one to two ACE responses related to their Adventure Novels - students either have paper copies or they can access the questions on Google Classroom
Due every Thursday: Summary of Nonfiction Article
- On Tuesdays students will read a nonfiction article about the wilderness survival skill of the week. A summary of that article is due on Thursday (3-5 sentences with the main idea and 3-4 supporting details). The articles are online in Google Classroom and students who checked out Wilderness Survival Books have paper copies. The summaries are written in their Field Studies Journals.
- Based on the wilderness survival skill of the week, students will have discussion questions to answer. The answers to the questions are written in their Field Studies Notebook.
